PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain stray light and to efficiently perform the heat radiation of a polarizing plate and a display panel by arranging a liquid layer or a gel layer, the polarizing plate and a transparent base plate brought into contact with the polarizing plate between the picture display part of the display panel and the surface of a light synthesizing optical part and obtaining constitution having no void. SOLUTION: The polarizing plates 51 to 53, the transparent base plates 41 to 43 and the gel layers 31 to 33 are closely arranged between three peripheral surfaces of a dichroic prism 3 and liquid crystal display panels 11 to 13. The base plates 41 to 43 are arranged between the polarizing plates 51 to 53 and the gel layers 31 to 33, and the polarizing plates 51 to 53 are not brought into contact with the gel layers 31 to 33, then the base plates 41 to 43 are excellent in heat conduction efficiency, so that heat generated from the polarizing plates 51 to 53 is radiated by the base plates 41 to 43. By constituting the base plates 41 to 43 to project toward this side seen head-on, a heat radiation effect is enhanced further.
