PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make multivalued data defined to a two-dimensional surface as multivalued image data at a high-speed using polygons. SOLUTION: A multivalued image being a processing object takes three-stage values of 0, 1 and 2 (a). In a non-halftone dot meshing area, a pixel value is 0, in an area which is in the lower right corner of an image are undergoing thin halftone dot meshing, a pixel value is 1, and in an area being in the upper left corner of an image area undergoing thick halftone dot meshing, a pixel value is 2, and the entire image area is divided into a plurality of square areas (b). Whether the values of all pixels in each divided square area are the same is checked. A square area, where the values of all of the pixels are the same, is made into a polygon as is. Then, each square area of an image area (c), left behind without being made a polygon, is divided into four parts of small square areas (d). |
