PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high communication throughput according to quality of a transmission line, without lowering communication efficiency regarding communications equipment and a recording medium. SOLUTION: This communications equipment 10 is controlled by a CPU in a computer system, for example, connected via a bus I/F. In the case of data transmission by the communications equipment 10, an ECC check bit is discriminated as to whether it is added to transmission data, based on error notification regarding the transmission data returned from the receiving side. When is it is discriminated that the ECC check bit should be added, the transmission data is divided into data units with specified length by operation of an ECC control part 16. And the ECC check bit is added by each data unit. The length of the data unit is successively shortened according to increase of the errors of the transmission data.
