PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the location of water leakage in a water pipe reliably and to detect the location of water leakage efficiently. SOLUTION: By applying hydraulic pressure or distributing water-pipe dynamic water pressure on the base end side of a pipe 16 with a detecting capsule 20 inserted in from the base end side of the pipe 16 and the supply device 18 of the pipe 16 closed, the detecting capsule 20 is moved to the location of water leakage to detect the location of water leakage. By mounting a pulling thread 22 to the detecting capsule 20 and moving the detecting capsule 22 inside the pipe 16 through the pulling thread 22 passed through inside the pipe 16, the distance between the inserted location of the detecting capsule 20 and the location of water leakage is measured to detect the location of water leakage.
