PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the recording controlling method of optical disk recording and reproducing devices which are constituted to record signals on a disk by a laser beam radialed by optical pickup. SOLUTION: The method controls the recording of a plurality of optical disk recording and reproducing devices 2, 3 and 4 which are connected to a single host unit 1, whose operation is controlled by a recording instruction signal outputted from the unit 1 and which are constituted to record the same data signal on the disks. Response is made to the recording instruction signal which is outputted from the host unit 1, the length of a time required until the start of a recording operation is judged by a response signal which is outputted from each optical disk recording and reproducing device and the operation of selecting each optical disk recording and reproducing device for starting the recording operation is executed by the length of the time.
