PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized and light-weight multi-plate type solid-state image pickup device capable of high quality image pickup. SOLUTION: In this 3-plate type solid-state image pickup device 1 constituted of three imaging devices 5, 6 and 7 composed of photoelectric conversion films 10, 12 and 14 and signal processing circuits 11, 13 and 15 and three prisms 2, 3 and 4, by directly forming the imaging devices 5, 6 and 7 on the end faces of the prisms 2, 3 and 4 by a thin film formation method or a vapor phase deposition method, they are formed without generating any deviation of an optical axis and a gap with the end faces of the prisms 2, 3 and 4.
