PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the surface of a photoreceptor from being damaged by constructing the device so that when each individual unit is detached from a position other than an image forming position, all the individual units outer than the individual unit to be detached are not positioned in the image forming position. SOLUTION: This device is constructed so that when a magenta image forming unit 13M is replaced, an image forming unit 13BK is not positioned in an image forming position but in a non-operating replacing position 42. In the non-operating replacing position 42, the photoreceptor 11 of the image forming unit 13BK is not opposed to a first transfer roller 4. In this non- operating replacing position 42, a printer stops a printing operation, and a printer left face plate 1C is opened, thereby taking out one of the image forming units 13 in the direction of the arrow Z for the purpose of replacement. When another image forming unit 13 is exchanged out, an image forming unit group 14 makes each stop in a position where it is rotated and moved by 90 deg. from this position. Also, by opening a printer front face plate 1A, an intermediate transfer belt unit 2 can be taken out in the direction of the arrow X. |
