PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily clean samples in a simple operation. SOLUTION: The instrument preferably includes a cleaning liquid storage container 1 having a piping 4 for discharging a cleaning liquid connected to a wall part, and a sample-holding container 2 set in the cleaning liquid storage container 1. The sample-holding container 2 has a through hole 3 in a side wall and/or a wall of a bottom part. According to the cleaning method, a sample is filled in the sample-holding container 2 with the use of the instrument with a filter paper being interposed between the sample and the through hole 3, and then ultrasonic waves are applied to the cleaning liquid in the sample- holding container 2, thereby cleaning the sample.
