PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for transmitting and receiving data which can be utilized easily when a plurality of persons transmit and receive data through one personal computer by using their own portable telephone sets at their destinations. SOLUTION: Each mobile telephone set 10 has its own identification number 11. When each user connects its own mobile telephone set 10 to a personal computer 20, the computer 20 reads the identification number 11 of each telephone set 10 and automatically distributes and stores the data received under the names of the users stored in an identification number correspondence table storing means 23 in a state where the names are paired with the identification numbers 11 of the telephones sets 10 to and in the data storing areas provided at every user in a data box 25.
