PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a remote monitoring system using a video camera without needing any leased line or the like by providing a function for connecting a telephone line or a function for holding line connection by separating a means for connecting FAX equipment or the like from the FAX equipment or the like. SOLUTION: The telephone line 3 is connected to an automatic answering connection circuit 6 through lines SW1 1 and SW2 2 and the line connection is executed in response to a calling signal. When a video telephone function circuit 4 for monitoring a signal on the telephone line 3 detects a video telephone mode transfer signal in the signal, the lines SW1 1 and SW2 2 are changed-over into the other side and the video telephone mode is shifted to a slave mode. Then the video telephone system at a calling side establishes a data communication line on the telephone line which connects the both particles by a master mode, and then activates a video telephone mode signal. Moreover, voice is collected by a voice collecting microphone 8, video is taken by a telecamera and is transmitted to the video telephone system of a connection opposite party. |
