摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable length packet network congestion control method for simultaneously controlling packet processing congestion, due to increase in the number of packets and transmission band congestion due to increase in the total quantity of the packets being the product of the length of the packets and the number of the packets, and for quickly relaxing the propagation of congestion. SOLUTION: The states of the both congestion are determined, and the range of the length of packets to be reduced by the matrix of the congesting states in the two congestion classifications is decided, and a packet, to which a 'size identifier' indicating the range of the length of the packets to be reduced is applied, is transmitted to a transmitting exchange node being the origin of the transmission of the packets (204). Thus, it is possible to urge reduction of transmission of the packets in the transmitting exchange node, and to reduce the packets having length in the specific range inflowing to a relay exchange node. Thus, the congesting state of the relay exchange node can be made to relax.
