<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve such troubles that an imperfect packet actually does not exist inspite of the presence of auxiliary data in an auxiliary data part by providing an auxiliary data invalidation information which expresses that the auxiliary data of one imperfect packet is invalid, in the part other than a main data part within a data block, when no idle region can be generated in an ending part of the main data part. SOLUTION: The recording and reproducing device blocks a digital bit stream each of which is a packet train that consists of y-bites. Each block is provided with a main data part which stores plural packets, an auxiliary data part corresponding to the respective packets and another data part. Another data part is provided with an auxiliary data invalidation flag Fg as another information. The device discriminates whether the free part allotted to the imperfect packet exists in the completion part of the main data part or not, and is set in such a manner that Fg=0 when an idle part exists, and Fg=1 when an idle part does not exist.</p> |
