PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage device with which data can be easily read at low cost while varying bit width. SOLUTION: When extracting data to the width of four bits at a maximum, bit streams D1-DN of input data are made into data of four bits from LSB, four bits from LSB+1... and successively stored in addresses A1, A2.... When reading data for the width of (j) bits, the data are read out while increasing addresses (j) by (j) like addresses A1, A(1+j), A(1+2j)... and only low-order (j) bits are extracted as parallel data.
