PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain target gloss by variably setting pressure of a heat roller fixing unit on the basis of a change in paper-passage-directional density characteristics and fixing a transfer sheet S under the set pressure of the heat roller fixing unit. SOLUTION: An image forming device is provided with an image reading means 35 which reads a reference image fixed under heat and pressure by heat pressure fixing devices 51 and 52, and a pressure adjusting means which variably sets pressure of the heat pressure fixing devices 51 and 52 by a pressure control device 61 on the basis of the paper-passage-directional density change characteristics of the reference image read by the image reading means.
