PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic relay for use in a car on-board device, communication device, industrial apparatus, etc., for changing-over of signals or controlling the different loads, suitable for controlling the circuit through which a large current flows at the time of a rush and capable of suppressing the occupation area and the power consumption of coil. SOLUTION: An electromagnetic relay is structured so that a Make side stationary contact spring 39 is furnished with a shock absorbing mechanism 42 to absorb the shock generated when a movable contact 37 fixed to a movable contact spring 36 abuts to a stationary contact 41 between a region whereto the stationary contact 41 is fixed and a region where it is supported by a coil bobbin 32 and a base member 31 has a stopper block 43 to hinder the stationary spring 39 from excessive movement when the movable contact 37 abuts to the stationary contact 41 in a position capable of abutting to the Make side stationary contact spring 39.
