PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assembly in which a printer and a scanner can be used as a single body respectively and are easily assembled without errors and whose functional extendibility is high, and to make the assembly functional and compact. SOLUTION: This assembly is constituted by arranging the printer and the scanner in an up-and-down direction (z) and relatively fixing them through a coupling member in horizontal directions (x) and (y). The coupling member includes a movable supporting leg 15a attached to either the printer or the scanner so that it can be housed/taken out, and a restricting hole 37a holding the take-out part of the leg 15a so as not to move in the directions (x) and (y) on the other. Furthermore, a sorter and a controller are provided with the similar coupling member and superposed in the vertical direction (z) and combined as the assembly. The assembly is equipped with a fall-off preventing plunger in the hole 17a. It is equipped with a leg housing/drawing-out lever. Then, it is equipped with a leg shake preventing frame and reinforcing material, where a connector for an extension circuit substrate is installed. Parts, the connector and consumables are installed in the supporting leg.
