Use of alpha,alpha'-iminobis(methylene)bis[2-chromanmethanol] derivatives for treating degenerative diseases of the vascular or nervous systems

These derivatives are of the formula shown wherein R1 and R3 each are independently Fl, OH or H; R2 and R4 are independently H or OH; and each asterisk indicates a stereogenic center. The preferred compound is nebivolol. Suitable diseases that may be treated include atherogenesis, atheromatosis, arteriosclerosis, antherosclerosis, vascular hypertrophy associated with hypertension, hyperlipoproteinemia, vasculopathology of the gonads and pancreas, parathyroidal reactive hyperplasia, chronic renal disease, neoplastic diseases and in inflammatory diseases.
