PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily set a place where paper is ejected when an option paper ejecting unit is fitted by having, as an initial setting value of the place where paper is ejected, two initial setting values of the place where paper is ejected in the case that there is no option paper ejecting unit and a paper ejected party in the case that the option paper ejecting unit is connected, in a nonvolatile memory. SOLUTION: A printer can be mounted with an option tray 2 in addition to a standard tray 1. A control means 3 specifies a standard tray 1 or the option tray 2 as a place where paper is ejected and control an object unit so that sheets of paper are ejected to either tray. A sensor 4 for detecting installation of the option tray 2, a ROM 5 in which a control program is stored, a RAM 6 for storing two initial setting values of the case that there is no option paper ejecting unit and a paper ejected party the case that the option paper ejecting unit is connected, and a switch 7 for selecting a paper ejecting tray are connected to the control means 3.
