PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording/reproducing device capable of improving a magnetic flux density by reducing magnetic leaks relating to a magnetic modulating coil. SOLUTION: In the recording/reproducing device executing recording/ reproducing of data by applying magnetic field and light to a recording medium to which a magneto-optical effect is applied, magnetic body layers 2, 3 are formed on both surfaces of a magnetic modulating coil 1 for generating a magnetic field and further are laminated on a supporting substrate 10. A magnetic body layer 4 is preferably formed in the inside wall of a conical optical path 6 as well. In such a manner, a magnetic flux density is improved by arranging the magnetic body layers in the recording/reproducing device and constituting the magnetic circuit having few magnetic leak.
