PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain appropriate recording operation in a magneto-optical recorder utilizing a magnetic field modulation overwrite system, even though the vibration is exerted. SOLUTION: An arm 36 for arranging a magnetic head 31 oppositely to a magneto-optical disk with a specified space and a detection element 61 for detecting the space of the magnetic head 31 with respect to the magneto-optical disk are provided at the time of recording operation. When the detection is made by the detection element 61 that the space between the magnetic head 31 and the magneto-optical disk is increased beyond the normal value and subsequently turned back to the proper value, digital data of ever since the space between the magnetic head 31 and the magneto-optical disk is increased beyond the normal value, are supplied again to the magnetic head 31.
