PURPOSE: To obtain a thin variable resistor, which increases retention force of a second metallic terminal by a substrate, prevents bending distortion in bending work from spreading to an electrically continuous part to a resistor, and can stabilize electrical connection of the second metallic terminal and the resistor. CONSTITUTION: This variable resistor is provided with a substrate 1, metallic terminals 2-4 which are insert-molded in the substrate 1, and a slider 6 sliding on a resistor 5 formed on the substrate 1. The slider 6 is caulked to a locking part 4a formed on the metallic terminal 4, thereby is fixed rotatably. Outer connection parts 2b-4b of the terminals 2-4 are pulled out from the bottom part of the substrate 1, and bent upwardly along the side surface of the substrate. Anchor parts 2c, 3c and 2d, 3d which are embedded in the substrate 1 are formed into a unified body, in the vicinity of electrically continuous parts 2a, 3a of the second metallic terminals 2, 3 to the resistor 5 and between the electrically continuous parts 2a, 3a of the second metallic terminals 2, 3 and outer connection parts 2b, 3b.
