The smart cards are made as a wide sheet containing multiple thin integrated circuits with output connection plots on their active face. Contacts are formed for the antenna within the area of the circuit. The circuits are then cut from the sheet to form a circuit module (8). The module is the placed in the card body and the antenna connected if the card is to be operated in non-contact mode.
