PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic vending machine which uses a non-contact data carrier to enable its user to easily and surely purchase his/her desired commodities. SOLUTION: This automatic vending machine is provided with plural commodity selection means having the pressure detection means which detect pressing actions carried out for selecting commodities, the presence detection means which detect the presence or absence of a non-contact data carrier and the read/write means which read and rewrite data on the non-contact data carrier and also provided with the control means which makes every read/write read the data on the non-contact data carrier when the pressure detection means detects the pressing action and also the presence detection means detects the presence of the non-contact data carrier, decides purchasing of the commodity if the data read by the read/write means are normal and instructs the read/write means to rewrite the data on the non-contact data carrier.
