The fastening for attaching a component (1) with an oblong hole to a support (2) incorporates a metal or plastic retaining element (6) with a circular base (9) which fits in the oblong hole and a larger circular plate (8) which goes over it. The hole (10) in the retaining element to receive the bolt (5) of the fastening is offset from its centre, and the bolt engages with a nut (7b) attached to the support by a clip (7).
