Container filling level measuring device e.g. for automobile fuel tank, uses elongate electronic filling level sensor with spring mounting allowing container thermal expansion compensation

The filling level measuring device uses an elongate electronic filling level sensor (4a), depending into the liquid, positioned with its free end (6a) in contact with a reference surface in a defined position relative to the base (8a) of the container (2a). The filling level sensor is supported by a spring mounting allowing it to slide longitudinally for compensating the height variation in the container resulting from its thermal expansion. An Independent claim for an automobile fuel tank with a filling level sensor is also included.
