<p>The present invention is directed to an intelligent transaction management system typically usable with Electronic Data Interchange. The transaction sets representing purchase orders, invoices, purchase order adjustments and advance shipping notices are received by a trading engine (200) and destination addresses can be altered to provide best value purchasing for a group of small independent companies which are members of the buying group. The incoming purchase order includes a plurality of line items, typically including at least a quantity, price and part number. The trading engine deletes and adds line item numbers to purchase orders based on comparison of substitute products and consolidating purchase orders based on volume purchases. The electronic engine can recalculate line item quantities and price totals and generate new orders to other vendors based on substitutions and consolidations.</p> |
