The system has a pump (2) driven by a drive motor and at least one load (4), esp. a motor, connected to the pump by two pressure lines (3a,3b) in a closed loop. There is a valve (11a,11b) for braking the load in each pressure line connecting the pump to the load. The valve limits the pressure to a defined level in a braking phase.
