The method involves reducing (35) water-containing waste material, feeding it into a combustion chamber (50) and burning it. A sludge is produced in which the material is reduced to a particle size of less than about 1.5 mm. and the sludge is introduced into the combustion chamber via nozzles (42). An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for burning waste food and/or faeces.
