The battery adapter (2) has a housing with a first terminal for connection to an external electrical energy source (3) and a second terminal for connection to the electronic device, e.g. a laptop computer (1). The size and shape of the housing is matched to that of the battery compartment of the electronic device, so that it can be inserted in the latter, for bringing the second terminal into contact with the battery terminals within the battery compartment.
