The device has a ring-shaped body (12) with ball pockets containing balls (16), a relatively moveable cover (22), and an axial spring unit (30) between ring and cover. The spring unit is located at a distance to the balls, and carries a pivot bearing (24) on an axial side. The balls are in contact with the cover. The ring-shaped body has been three and six, pref. four evenly distributed pockets. The axial spring unit has at least one plate spring (32), pref. a spring assembly. The pivot bearing is a needle bearing.
