<p>The present invention is directed to a variety of stereoscopic optical systems and methods. In one configuration, an optical system includes a polarizer (1), a half-wave retarder (3), a polarization rotator (4), and an analyzing polarizer (2). Various configurations include first, second, and third encoding means, a micropolarizer and an array or matrix of filters for processing optical signals before receipt by an image acquisition system, encoding means located upstream of the object to be images, and first and second encoding means that each encode a different characteristic of an optical signal.</p> |
