The method involves measuring one or more optical properties of a thin film of the material (2) under investigation, pref. of thickness less than 10 microns and in partic. less than 5 microns. The material under investigation can be applied to a transparent substrate (1) and coated with one or more corrosion protection layers (3). An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for implementing the method.
