A method of sealing a joint (10, 10A, 10B, 10C, 10D, 10E, 10F, 10G and 10H) which includes the steps of (i) application of a debonding material (20, 20B) suitably in strip form to the joint which has a joint aperture (7). The debonding material (20, 20B) is applied to each side of the joint aperture (7) and/or within or over the joint aperture (7). Finally, an elastomer (21) is applied to the debonding material (20, 20B) which debonding material (20, 20B) is maintained permanently within the joint (10, 10A, 10B, 10C, 10D, 10E, 10F, 10G and 10H) being sealed.
