<p>Disclosed are isolated At-RSH (1, 2 and 3) nucleic acids which show homology to bacterial Re1A and SpoT genes which encode polypeptides having (p)ppGpp synthetase activity. The genes are involved in modulating response to stress conditions, and gene products been shown to specifically interact with the NB-ARC domain of RPP5. One preferred embodiment is the At-RSH nucleotide sequence which encodes the polypeptide of Seq ID No 2(Seq ID No 1). Also provided are variant sequences (e.g. alleles, orthologues, derivatives) and complementary sequences, plus vectors, host cells, plants and associated processes of production and methods of use e.g. for influencing or affecting stress response in a plant by expression or suppression of AT-RSH or variant sequences.</p> |
