An apparatus for preparing hematopoietic stem cells for later transplantation, comprising introducing stem cells and additive mixture into a freezing bag and sealing the freezing bag, which contains a valve block connected by short tubes of low volume to the additive reservoirs, the LF box, the mixing vessel and the freezing bag. An apparatus for preparing hematopoietic stem cells for later transplantation, comprising: (1) isolating stem cells from blood; (2) collecting the cells in a bag; (3) placing the bag in a laminar flow (LF) box; (4) withdrawing predetermined amounts of additives (dimethyl sulfoxide, buffer and albumin) from reservoirs and introducing them into a mixing vessel by means of perfusion syringes; (5) introducing the cells and additive mixture into a freezing bag and sealing the freezing bag; which contains a valve block connected by short tubes of low volume to the additive reservoirs, the LF box, the mixing vessel and the freezing bag.
