Method for plant tissue culture

Plant tissue is cultured by using a plant tissue culture support material with density of 0.01 to 2 g/cm<3> which is comprised of vermiculite of average particle diameter of 0.1 to 10 mm and cellulose fiber of average fiber length of 0.01 to 5 mm at a mixing ratio in weight of the vermiculite and the cellulose fiber being 5 : 95 to 95 : 5, and a culture broth with addition of a germicide at such an amount that the germicide itself can singly prevent contamination. Thus, there is provided a method for plant tissue culture with no laborious sterilization process or with no need of sterile transplantation of the plant tissue.
