A molded base module for a filter assembly comprises a header portion (20) which forms a receiving cavity for a replaceable cartridge (12) and includes integral inlet and outlet structures (34,36) for providing the communication with the received filtered cartridge. The base module also includes an integrally formed retainer (50) defining a retaining channel (54) for securably retaining the cartridge to the module.
