PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent picking miss by touching a selected weft to unselected wefts' tips, warps and dents and blocking weft running in picking of multicolor picking device for a fluid jet loom. SOLUTION: This multicolor picking device 1 inserts a waft 8 in a main nozzle 4 into a opening 7 of warps 6 by having plural picking main nozzles 4 and jetting a picking fluid 5 from the main nozzle 4. In this case, the tip of at least one main nozzle 4 is situated between a selected position nearer to dents 10 than other main nozzles 4 and a unselected position retreated in the direction more apart from the dents 10 than the selected position to be capable of reciprocating motion. When picking with the above mentioned main nozzle 4 is selected, the main nozzle 4 is situated at the selected position at least before picking is started and, during picking with the main nozzle 4 is unselected, the main nozzle 4 is situated at the unselected position.
