PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent having such excellent detergency that can substitute for conventional solvents and detergents and can remove the oil staining fabric, particularly the machine oil staining the gray fabric inexpensively through simple treatment without toxicity. SOLUTION: The detergent having the following formulation is used: (1) 0.2-50 wt.% of terpene hydrocarbon and/or terpene alcohol; (2) 0.1-40 wt.% of nonionic or anionic, and/or amphoteric surfactants. In a preferred embodiment, a polyhydric alcohol alkylene oxide adduct and a sequestering agent are added in addition. In an embodiment, this detergent is applied to the stained part and the stain is removed simultaneously on the scouring or bleaching.
