PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily producing organic solvent-dispersed abrasive grains, namely abrasive grains for polishing sheets used for precision polishing of solid surfaces e.g. polishing of the end-faces of optical fibers for telecommunications, in a state of primary particle as they are, with no necessity of redispersion of abrasive grains aggregated in a state of secondary particles through an exclusive machine/equipment or manual operation, and to provide a method for producing polishing sheets using the abrasive grains obtained by the above method. SOLUTION: This method for producing organic solvent-dispersed abrasive grains comprises the following steps: mixing wet-classified water-dispersed abrasive grains with an organic solvent having a boiling point higher than that of water, subjecting the thus obtained mixture to distillation to distill off only water to replace it with the organic solvent, and subjecting the thus obtained mixed liquid 10 to dehydration by further distillation; wherein the water-dispersed abrasive grains are not dried, therefore the objective organic solvent-dispersed abrasive grains in a state of primary particles can be produced without producing abrasive grains in a state of secondary particles formed at the time of drying water-dispersed abrasive grains. |
