PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply remove a residual thread by relaxing a thread for connecting fold sections therebetween when the thread is cut while conveying the thread after gathering and binding a plurality of fold sections with the threads, and cutting the residual thread extended from the bound fold sections while relaxing the thread. SOLUTION: A plurality of fold sections 1 are first conveyed to a sewing machine binding device 2, a binding needle 21 is vertically moved in association with intermittent drive of a conveyor 3 to bind the sections 1 by sewing and the sections 1 are connected to each other by threads. Then, a preceding fold section 1 is sandwiched between continuously drive lower roller 40 and a free roller 41, the following fold section 1 is sandwiched between both intermittent drive upper and lower rollers 30 and 31, and the adjacent sections 1 are relaxed at connecting threads according to a speed difference of the rollers. Then, when a site between both the adjacent sections 1 is detected by a detecting unit 5, a cutting unit 6 is operated. The air is sucked by a suction unit 61 to cut the relaxed thread by a cutter while pulling the relaxed thread, and waste threads after cutting are recovered by a recovery unit 1.
