PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a mat main body arranged on a pedestal from sliding in the surface direction while being detachable, facilitate the replacement of the mat main body, and at the same time, surely prevent the mat main body from sliding by projecting an edge section on the peripheral edge of the pedestal, and fitting the mat main body in a recess which is surrounded by the edge section. SOLUTION: This starting base 1 is used to hit a ball which is placed on the starting base 1 by a player who is standing on the starting base 1, and a mat main body 3 is arranged on a pedestal 2. In this case, an edge section 22 is projected on the peripheral edge of the pedestal 2, and the mat main body 3 is fitted in a recess 23 which is surrounded by the edge section 22 without bonding. Thus, the mat main body 3 is detachably arranged while being prevented from sliding in the surface direction. Also, for the pedestal 2, on both of the upper and lower surfaces of the pedestal main body comprising, e.g. a polystyrene expanded body, e.g. a neoprene rubber sheet is affixed. At the same time, an artificial turf is affixed to the surface excepting the recess 23. In addition, the mat main body 3 is formed of, e.g. an artificial turf, and a start line 31 is drawn at one section on the surface.
