PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition which is prepared by mixing a polyvinyl alcohol with a cationic polymer compound and can give an ink-receptive layer constituting an ink-jet recording substrate and having such improved moisture resistance as to resist ink bleeding even by melt extrusion in which the polyvinyl alcohol used is an extrusion-grade polyvinyl alcohol. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by compounding 60-85 wt.% polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of saponification of 20-90% and a difference of at least 20 deg.C between the decomposition temperature and the melting point with 40-15 wt.% cationic polymer compound. The cationic polymer compound is a linear cationic polymer compound comprising 65-99 mol% ethylene structural units of formula I, at most 15 mol% acrylate structural units of formula II, and 1-35 mol% acrylamide structural units of formula III and having a random sequence and a weight-average molecular weight of 1,000-50,000. In the formulae, R1 is a 1-4C alkyl; R2 is a 2-8C alkylene; R4 and R5 are each a 1-12C alkyl or the like; and X- is a halide ion, CH3OSO3-, or the like. |
