<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful as a monomer for a cationic polymer having a small pKa value suitably used as an agent for making paper water-resistant for an ink for ink-jet recording. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by the formula (R1 and R2 are each H or a 1-4C alkyl; n is 1-4) such as an N,N-diallyl-N',N'-diethyl-ethylenediamine. The compound of the formula is obtained, for example, by reacting (B) an allyl halide such as allyl chloride, etc., with (C) an N,N-dialkylalkylenediamine such as 2-(diethylamino)ethylamine in the presence of (A) a hydrogen halide scavenger such as sodium hydroxide, etc., generally at about 10-90 deg.C.</p> |
