PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new aromatic oligomer useful as a modifier for an epoxy resin, an epoxy resin composition giving a cured article excellent in moldability, low hygroscopicity, heat resistance, flame retardancy, adhesiveness with different material and electric insulation and its cured article. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a production method of an aromatic oligomer by polymerizing an aromatic oligomer including 20-100 mole.% of an unit expressed by general formula (R is a 1-6C hydrocarbon and n is an integer of 0-4), and an unsaturated polymerizable monomer including 20-100 mole.% of benzofuran, an epoxy resin composition compounded with the aromatic oligomer as a modifier for the epoxy resin and a cured article of the same.
