PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a caisson at a low cost by a method wherein a prestress is introduced to all of vertical joints joining precast members together. SOLUTION: Side walls 9, 10 and partition walls 11 each made up from a precast concrete member are manufactured at a factory, being classified into three kinds, and transported to a construction site and erected along a timbering. An indented part 15 is formed in advance for each of walls 9, 10 and 11 at its joining surface on a position at the center of its vertical joint so as to face the indented part of another wall, and a steel wire 17 such as stranded wire or a steel bar is penetrated through each of the vertical joint at the joining surface. After a grout 14 is injected with an injection pump, the steel wire 17 or the steel bar is tightened with a tightening jack and thereby a prestress is introduced to a joining part of each of the members. Then a mortar is injected into horizontal joints at the joining parts of the side walls 9, 10, the partition walls 11 and a floor board 4. The vertical joints at the joining surfaces of the walls 9 and 10 are formed at positions respectively close to a point of inflection, taking conveniences for manufacture, construction and transportation into consideration. Thereby, of labor can be saved at a construction site and a term of works can be reduced.
