PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a portable air cleaner that can efficiently remove bad smell and hazardous substances occurring from tobacco on smoking and is useful for health and the like by arranging a discharge type dust collector and a fan for sucking the air surrounding the ash tray to the dust collector in the upper case of the cleaner. SOLUTION: An upper case 2 and a lower case 3 are linked with a hinge 4 at one edge of their individual bodies so that they may be folded at the hinge. The ashtray 5 is arranged in the lower case 3, while a discharge type dust collector 13 and the fan for sucking the air on the periphery of the ashtray are arranged in the upper case 2. In addition, a high-voltage generation circuit 6 for feeding a high voltage for discharge to the dust collector, and an electric cell 7 for feeding electric power to the high-voltage circuit 6 and a fan 16 are built in the lower case 3. The dust collector 13 is arranged between the air- intake port 8 and exhaustion port 9, the deodorizing filter 15 is set between the fan 16 and the dust collector. In a preferred embodiment, the guide wall 17 for surrounding the periphery of the lower case 3 is integrally formed on the upper case 2 a size larger than the lower case 3.
