PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject nonwoven fabric excellent in gypsum penetrability and suitable for gypsum boards with sufficient mechanical strength by forming perforations regularly and nearly uniformly on a nonwoven fabric based on glass fibers. SOLUTION: This nonwoven fabric for reinforcing gypsum boards is obtained by regularly, nearly uniformly forming in a zigzag fashion perforations each 0.07 mm2 to 30 cm2 in area and 0.1-200 cm2/m2 in total area on a wet nonwoven fabric based on glass fibers each 6-18μm in diameter and 6-40 mm in length. The other objective gypsum board is produced by the following process: the nonwoven fabric thus obtained is placed on a substrate, gypsum is then poured on the nonwoven fabric, and a 2nd sheet of the above nonwoven fabric is laminated on the resultant gypsum so as to sandwich the gypsum followed by leaving the resultant laminate stand for a specified period of time and, as necessary carrying out a heat treatment to effect hardening the gypsum.
