PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an effective antiprotozoal agent in order to solve problems in which there is no therapeutic agent among them and resistant protozoans against therapeutic agents appear and therapeutic agents have adverse effects, though many kinds of diseases are known, especially in tropical zones even at present as protozoal diseases. SOLUTION: A prophylactic or therapeutic agent for renal diarrhea caused by human amebiasis, trichomoniasis, lamblial dysentery, trypanosomiasis, leishmaniasis, balantidiasis, cryptosporidiosis, cyclosporasis, toxoplasmosis, pneumocysis carinii pneumonia and microsporidiosis comprises fosmidomycin or its pharmaceutically permissible salt.
