PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular external mirror giving the necessary field of view to a driver and capable of adjusting the movement of the position of a mirror head and the direction of the mirror head. SOLUTION: This rear-view mirror includes a housing 16 pivotally attached to a base part 10 so as to make angular movement about a first pivot 50, and an electric motor 36 causing such movement. A controller actuates a motor at two different speeds. The rear-view mirror includes a counter 74 which counts the number of revolution of the output shaft 64 of the motor 36 to determine the angle by which the housing 16 has moved. The housing is returned to its original position by rotating the motor in the opposite direction by the same number of revolution.
